New Post on 'Light and the painter's painting'

A sombre November 13.....

My studio is blanketed in dove grey. There is not enough light to use my paints. Natural light, light which was used by all painters everywhere until the electric light invaded human lives.

It is a choice to not make use of the benefits of artificial light, and for me it's a no-brainer: no lamp can replace the energies of atmospheric, natural light.

The available light and the shape of the working space have always had a large and underestimated effect on a painter's work.
